The Founder of Eurasia Bridges

In 2016, Moritz Rudolf founded Eurasia Bridges. He has been studying Mandarin and the Chinese culture since 2002 and has lived and worked in Beijing for several years.

Parallel to his studies in economics and law at the Heidelberg University and the Tsinghua University in Beijing, Moritz Rudolf started analyzing China from a security perspective in 2010, as Head of the Working Group "Conflicts in Asia and Oceania" at the “Heidelberg Institute of international Conflict Research” and as Board Member of the Heidelberg “Forum of International Security”. In addition, he spent two years at the Max Planck Institute for Comparative Public Law and International Law.

Between 2014-2016 Moritz Rudolf worked at the Mercator Institute for China Studies (MERICS), with a specific focus on China’s legal policy, geopolitical initiatives, and foreign relations. He has been a frontrunner to systematically track and analyze the Belt and Road initiative (BRI) in Europe.

In addition, in 2017 he was a fellow within the Berlin-based Research Group “The international rule of law – Rise or Decline?“, where he focused on the international law dimension of the BRI.

Since 2020, Moritz Rudolf is a fully qualified lawyer. He is a keen observer of the re-emergence of the People’s Republic of China and the on-going global power shifts.
